I Wish I Had a Pet

While fish or birds are easier to care for and confined, I often long for a dog or a cat. I love animals and against my better judgment I pet every creature I come across. I can only continue to wish for my own little something, but as a full time student, my pet would be either a very sad one, or a very dead one. In the mean while I hug my stuffed animals, pet the animals at my parents home and (finally) creature a pet/animal themed treasury, do visit:

p.s - if by any chance you're looking to get a pet of any kind, please please please adopt. Don't buy animals when there are so many shelters packed with gorgeous animals waiting for a good home.

Charles Anastase - I Like You

I haven't done one of these in a while. I didn't think I'd post anything actually because I have been feeling all over the place, but I decided to go into and see what they have to offer these feelings I have been having. I have'nt heard about Charles Anastase before, but looking through his earlier shows, I can see he's a designer I would have liked anyway. However what attracted me to this specific show, his latest, was the first image - this is what I want these days: the messy yet kept together, classic and distant blackness, everything about this image screams to me NOW. This is who I want to be, but my daily obligations are keeping me as a perkier image of myself.

I'm waiting for the water to heat up so I can take a shower before going to university and I felt an urge to post something here even though I have nothing to post about. So I'll leave you with a beautiful painting by Anna Emilia, one of my favorite artists at the moment. And also, have a good morning and good day, and good night for those of you on the other side of earth.

Shop Update

Well after yesterdays royal surprise, back to business. Hope everyone's having a good day.

Bow Y'all!

I'm a queeeeen. Yay. I suddenly feel like I should be handling everything with serious consideration. Thanks Queens of Vintage!

To be honest, I have'nt written anything for the past few days because I was so inlove with the pictures I posted on my last blog post that I didn't want to push them down - silly I know, and quite narcissitic but come on - they turned out so well and that color effect is awesome. But, I just had to share the wonder that is Corset Laced Mannequins because this is one of the more creative things I've come across lately. It's all done by Lucy who basicly makes mannequins into art. She has a variety of items on her website so take a look. She also has a flickr account (which is how I found out about her).

A Good Day for WINDing

It was a wonderful day to experiment with my WINDing theory - well I don't know if theory is the term, more like - suggestion. My new hair was working for me, giving me a very cool 1930's look and I decided to go crazy with the twirling and lifting and dropping of the fabrics because I had some very wind-worthy items on today. Need I say more? Pictures (one from my pre-cut shoot):

I I I ...

Cut off my hair. Well, I didn't, but it's cut alright. Longer in the front, shorter in the back. Turned out pretty neat. Quite a change. I needed it. Badly.

Drawings/Sketches (or rather ART) I Liked Recently

After last nights dramatic post lets move on to something lighter. Windy actually. I decided to write about an aspect of my work process, which is actually a fun idea since I don't tend to do this (for lack of ideas). Because I model the items I put in my shop, I've learned that even though a human body gives any item a better way to express itself (because clothes are all about expressing themselves you know), that's only half of it. The real problem is making your shot interesting, because just standing there blandly doesn't make me a lot different from my menquine - my recommendation? find a way to make your shot a little windy.

When I'm wearing an item that has a bit of a flow to it (a lot of fabric, a certain type of fabric, a certain type of sewing) I try to play with it. I often dance around and throw the fabric in all directions in hopes I'll get the perfect shot and let me tell you - it's hard! Being pretty and getting the right angle where you're not showing something your'e not suppose too while also serving any kind of esthetics is a tough job and requires many many many shots and energy.

This method does'nt always work - and it can get a little frustrating, however I am here to cheer you on and encourage you to try this if you are dealing with clothes. Learn how to move your fabric, where it's best to grab it, whether you need to spin or toss - it's an art really. Examples (good and bad - although the REALLY bad ones were deleted long ago):

I try and not make this blog about my personal life. Yes, I gladly share what's going on with me, because this blog isn't strictly about business but I try to keep my aches and pains to a minimum when it comes to posting here. It just seems inappropriate. It does leak through every now and then, becuase that's just the person I am, I try to be true to what I'm feeling.
This is the trailer for Terry Gilliams "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" that has just reached cinemas in Israel. Besides looking and being fantastic, I was eagrly awaiting to see this movie with someone. But I can't see it with them, and I'm afraid no one else will quite do. That makes me very sad. Even though it's just a movie and being sad becuase of it is kind of silly. The trailer however is quite amazing.

No Sleep and Some Chicks

It's 4:24am. I can't go to sleep. I've been up all night because I was in a play on a special night in my theatre department when we say "to hell with sleep - we want to act" more or less.. so I did. And it went well. But because I'm going to see my parents tomorrow.. today I thought I'd take the earliest buss (which is in about an hour and some) and just sleep there - I mean, sleep at this point would be silly. Just thought I'd stop by since I've been absent for the last few days due to rehearsals.

Also, I was walking somewhere today and what did I see? A group of chickens. Just sitting there, minding their own business. Need I remind you I live in the city, and it's not a town like city, it's quite the hardcore urban city. Those chickens don't belong. But they looked quite at ease and did not freak out when I took their picture. They kind of didn't look real at first - but let me assure you - they eyed me well. Have a good day!

I WANT This!

The most beautiful lamps from Chen Karlsson - they are a scandinavian - asian design studio, I find that quite amusing.
