The Most Impossible Waist

But oh my - so pretty and sexy!

p.s - I need to figure out a few things about blogger and how to make images larger even though I upload them as "large"... grrrr

It Rained in the Morning

And even though it's a Saturday and I could have (and should have) slept in, I went out and walked for a couple of hours (I went to this useless second-hand market), in lovely Tel-Aviv. The streets were pretty empty and everything was softly wet from the morning rain and it really made me feel wonderful - it's a kind of alone-ness you can't really get often in a very crowded and active city, it was really special. It's my kind of weather. I'm going to rest my legs now because I was on high heeled boots.

Zohar Loves Zooey

I haven't seen "500 days of Summer" unfortunately, I heard it was really sweet and filled with vintage, or vintage-like clothes to die for. I've loved Zooey Deschanel for a very long while (I also love Emily her sister and Bones!) and recommend listening to 'She & Him' if you're into easy-going old-styled music. This is pretty much a feel good song and video. Enjoy.

The lyrics, aren't that easy breezy (even though they are very 50s styled (everything's very styled this post isn't it??)) and all I can say is: Zooey, I feel you honey.

Vacation? What Vacation?

Since it's passover next week we get a week and a half off university, which should be wonderful, except it really isn't time off. It always seems as if you suddenly have a lot of time to do lots of things but it never is enough. I have quite a few things to do, to read, to rehears, places to go, family to visit, work to do (for the shop) and on top of it all - I seem to getting a cold (I was starting to wonder, haven't been sick in a long while).
So this blog post is basically a rant - I'm sitting on my bed with 30-40 articles for a huge paper I need to write, mapping them out, while a headache is threatening to split my head open and my nose is kind of runny *sign*.

I hope everyone is doing well, those who read my blog and those who don't. Have a productive weekend.

I'm sponsoring the beautiful Casey a.k.a Casey's Elegant Musings and so today she posted a sponsor spotlight about my shop which turned out so lovely - make sure you take a look at it and visit my shop as well if you haven't in a while. THANK YOU CASEY.

My mother came to visit me today and we had a morning date - we had breakfast together and walked around looking specifically at shoes. She found some, I didn't. I can't say I was very disappointed, I was happy she got a very cool pair of sandals.
Anyway, I took my camera along and although I almost didn't take any pictures I noticed I had a specific theme to my pictures and that theme is light. Even though I'm not a summer girl and I prefer the darkness of winter - photography inspired by light has such an amazing affect. So the first image is from the coffee shop we went to for breakfast - it's their very cool light fixture/construction/whateverit'scalled, the second is from the shoe store and is pretty ethereal if you ask me - I like it that you can't really see my mom clearly and the light is a little too bright.

Long Over Due..

I should have posted these ages ago but you know how it is, one thing leads to another and months (wow.. I'm quite a loser in this aspect) pass until your class ends sooner than expected and you have an hour to burn off at the library.
So... my lovely costumer Kim bought the cutest 1960s sapphire mini dress from the shop and was generous enough to send me pictures of her in it! Of course I asked her right away if I could share them with you because she looks so pretty in it. She said she wore it to a 'bike winter fashion show' (which sounds very cool to me) and so I present to you the loveliness that is Kim:

I encourage anyone who has bought anything from my shop to send me pictures if they feel like it - it really does make my day!

Good Night

Rear Window, or, the loveliness that is Grace Kelly

I'm not one for blonds really. I have a horrible horrible class at 8am that revolves around movie analysis (if you can even call it that...) sounds interesting does'nt it? Well it could have been if the lecturer wasn't an insecure narrow-minded 3 year old. Leaving that aside, we are watching Alfred Hitchcocks "Rear Window", which I have watched before but I only now noticed how lovely Grace Kelly is in it and how beautifully she's dressed. I seldom give odes to sirens of the past but I think I will make an exception: (not the best screen captures.. sorry)

And I had to post a couple of their movie posters because they are so beautiful. I wish movie posters were drawn today, they are styled in such a creative and alluring manner, everything's larger than life and in my opinion, much more appealing: (notice the 'technicolor' sign on both posters :) )

I never quite connected with Radiohead, to this day they slightly scare me. I guess their music is very intense for me. I do like a few selected songs, especially the one featured bellow which as I gather, is a b-side to their latest album "In Rainbows" (correct me if I'm mistaken..). Actually when I was the US a month ago, I took a flight to PA to see a friend and on the way there I got to see half of a live studio show Radiohead gave somewhere and it was such a good experience for me. I didn't know any of the songs but there's something very powerful about Thom Yorke, so all and all Radiohead are on my good list. I guess the circumstance in which I saw the show brings back good memories as well so it all adds up to goodness. Enjoy.

Treasury Galore

Woke up to find out I was featured in two lovely treasuries - that's always a lot of fun and a good feeling that someone likes your items and your pictures. Press the pictures to go straight to the treasuries and don't be shy - press the items and leave a comment if you can. Have a great day!

I don't want to leave you with such a depressing post so here are some colorful notebooks that will maybe someday be filled with many depressing songs.. sources bellow.

In my room at my parents house, I have a shoe box and about 4-5 notebooks filled with songs I've been writing since I was about 12. Some have been composed, most haven't. I remember the second song I wrote and even remember how to sing it to this day - it was about my 6-7th grade boyfriend and how he made me feel, as if at that age I could even understand how love really felt. I wish things were as simple as that song now - simple in every aspect - innocent and clean of intrigues.

I wrote a song today, almost a year and a half after stopping. I don't really know why I stopped writing - it used to be like air for me. I guess going to university and dealing with a new hectic kind of life had a lot to do with it. The song I wrote isn't good by any means, it also does'nt really make sense. But I suppose it's a good sign. And a good outlet.

Evil vs. Good

It's a horrible yet fascinating thing to sell a product where you can actually see and touch the scales of the animal whose skin was used. I know this is a terrible thing I'm saying and that many many people object to fur and leather being sold. I'm not a hypocrite - I eat meat and have quite a few leather products, I don't know if I'll ever sell fur, but I have sold leather.
After thinking about it a lot I'll quote what another seller told me a while ago: "The people who are going to buy these products will buy them anyway, it's better they get something 50 years old than go out and get something new". I guess it does'nt solve any issue, but it does give me something to think about. Thoughts?

New In the Shop

Phones. One of the most common ways of communication. I have a love-hate relationship with my phone. Right now I'm tending to the hate side of things. And phone have come a very long way. While waiting for my phone to ring I found a few very cool vintage phones and two cute handmade phone-themed items I thought I'd share. Sources at the bottom.

Have you ever noticed how things exist only when they fit into your life for one reason or another? I used to live 5 minutes away from this big square (well in Hebrew it's called a circle really..) - I love it and everything around it, it makes me feel at home. I moved since then, I don't live that far but it's only now that I've noticed a single heart painted on the steps leading to city hall.

Sorry for not being a good poster of late.. I'm feeling rather tired and down. I hope it'll pass soon. In the meanwhile I'm sending this distress call :)
